NFL STARS JAMAAL CHARLES AND JOE HADEN MAKE IT A DAY TO REMEMBER FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETES
UAE 17 March 2019: NFL stars Jamaal Charles and Joe Haden were the latest sports personalities to pass on their knowledge to a group of Special Olympics athletes as part of a Unified Sports Experience.
Jamaal, now retired, and Haden, who through his foundation 1 Strong All Great, came together at Zayed Sports City and shared their tips with Special Olympics athletes on the field. The stars interacted with athletes before taking part in several fun exercise drills in a clinic that was held in partnership with the Emirates American Football League.
Pittsburgh Steelers’ cornerback, Haden, and former Jacksonville Jaguars runningback, Charles, join a list of stars who have met the athletes during Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019.
Former Marseille and Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba, and World Cup winner, Cafu, took part in a unified football match last week, while Olympic medallist Allyson Felix held a sprint clinic at Dubai Police Academy Stadium, today.
The Unified Sports Experiences provide an opportunity for honored guests, VIPs and sponsors to participate alongside Special Olympic athletes. The events aim to promote inclusion and break down barriers by bringing together people with and without intellectual disabilities and allowing them to play on teams alongside each other.
